Deadline Extended for British Composer Awards 2010The 8th annual British Composer Awards is extending the deadline for submissions in the Contemporary Jazz Composition category to Friday 30th July. Eligible works must have received a UK premiere between 1 April 2009 and 31 March 2010, be composed by a UK composer and contain improvisation as an essential element. The Jazz category was first introduced last year to ensure Jazz had a profile amongst these unique and prestigious awards and was won by Jason Yarde for “Rhythm and Other Fascinations”. The Awards take place on Tuesday 30 November at Stationers’ Hall, London and are presented by BASCA and sponsored by PRS for Music. In association with BBC Radio 3 the event will be broadcast in `Performance on 3’ at 7pm on Wednesday 1 December 2010.
